Accra, Ghana – Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has expressed her unwavering support for Ghana’s sports sector, emphasizing its vital role in the country’s development during a working visit to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation on Thursday.
During her visit, the Vice President received updates on the ministry’s current initiatives and progress, including efforts to improve sports safety, governance, and funding.
Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, highlighted notable achievements, such as the suspension of the Ghana Premier League following a supporter’s death, conducting safety audits, and establishing a Sports Police Unit.
The Vice President commended the sector Minister for his leadership and emphasized the importance of service to humanity in public service. She pledged her support for the ministry, particularly in ensuring timely resource allocation to facilitate their work.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang celebrated the contribution of sports and recreation to Ghana’s economy, noting its significant role in national development. Her remarks inspired confidence in the future of Ghana’s sports industry and its potential to drive social cohesion and economic growth.
Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, Chief Director of the Ministry, expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s visit, describing it as a motivation for staff to continue their hard work.
