Wisdom Boxing Gym delivered an impressive performance at the recent Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) National Championships, highlighting the gym’s depth, discipline, and emerging talent.
The gym entered 18 fighters across weight divisions from 48kg (Light Flyweight) to 75kg (Middleweight), recording 19 wins and advancing 5 boxers to the finals after a total of 93 bouts.
Notably, the gym produced both finalists in the 63.5kg (Light Welterweight) division, showcasing its internal depth and competitive edge.
Among the standout performers was 14-year-old Philemon Lomotey, the youngest competitor representing Wisdom, who demonstrated courage and poise beyond his years.

Veteran boxer, Abdul Wahid Omar (31) provided experience and leadership, illustrating the gym’s successful integration of youth and seasoned athletes.
Finalists from Wisdom Boxing Gym will contest national titles in Light Fly, Bantamweight, Lightweight and Light Welterweight divisions, reinforcing the gym’s reputation as one of Ghana’s premier amateur boxing programmes.
While some bouts were decided by narrow margins, Wisdom Boxing Gym sees these outcomes as opportunities for growth.
Lessons from the championships will inform future training, with a focus on strength and conditioning, ring aggression in close fights, and broader recruitment across higher weight divisions.
Wisdom Boxing Gym’s coaches emphasized the importance of structured athlete development, mentorship, and technical preparedness, ensuring that both boxers and club officials are ready to advocate effectively in future competitions.
