Accra Hearts of Oak’s struggles continued in the Premier League as they were held to a goalless draw by Heart of Lions in a tightly contested encounter at the Kpando Stadium on Friday.

The result sees the Phobians climb to third place—albeit temporarily—but extends their winless run to four matches, during which they have managed just a single goal. With Aduana FC still to play, their position in the top three remains uncertain heading into the rest of the weekend fixtures.

In a game short on clear chances, both sides found it difficult to break each other down. Hearts of Oak enjoyed more possession but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, with both teams registering only one shot on target throughout the match.

Heart of Lions, buoyed by their strong home form, matched their opponents in intensity and organisation while posing a greater threat from set-pieces, earning eight corners compared to Hearts’ two. The high temperatures also played a role, forcing a cooling break as players battled the demanding conditions.

The draw moves Lions into ninth place with 34 points, though their standing could shift depending on other results. Hearts of Oak now shift focus to a crucial fixture against Swedru All Blacks, while Lions prepare for an away trip to face Young Apostles.

Elsewhere, there was late drama as Techiman Eleven Wonders fought back to secure a thrilling draw against FC Samartex at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Samartex made a fast start, taking the lead just five minutes in through Gabriel Osei, and looked in control after Emmanuel Marmah added a second following a missed penalty rebound. However, Kofi Asamoah emerged as the hero for the hosts, scoring twice in the second half—including a late equalizer, to rescue a valuable point for the relegation-threatened side.

The dramatic comeback leaves Eleven Wonders firmly at the bottom, while Samartex will rue missed opportunities after letting a two-goal advantage slip.
