The Centre of the World Golf Club will host some of the country’s finest golfers when it stages the 2026 PGA Heritage Cup from March 18 to March 21, with a total prize purse of GH¢100,000 up for grabs.

The tournament, organised under the auspices of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Ghana (PGA Ghana), is expected to attract professional golfers from across the country and marks the first major competition on the association’s calendar for the year.

The championship forms part of activities marking National Heritage Month and will feature two competitive categories — Regular Professionals and Senior Professionals. While the regular professionals will compete over four days, the senior professionals will play a three-day competition at the same venue.

Players will not only be battling for a share of the prize money but also the prestige that comes with lifting the PGA Heritage Cup trophy, which organisers say has become one of the most anticipated events on the domestic professional golf circuit.
Following a competitive 2025 season that saw several players impress in tournaments across the country, this year’s championship is expected to draw strong competition as golfers aim to start the season on a high note while earning valuable ranking points.

Tournament Director of the PGA, Eric Henaku, said preparations for the event were progressing steadily, with the Tema-based course undergoing final arrangements ahead of the competition.

He noted that the tournament had already sparked heightened preparations among professionals nationwide, with many players intensifying their individual training regimes as they seek to make an early impact in the season.

Reports from golf clubs across the country, particularly in Accra, indicate that many professionals have stepped up their preparations in anticipation of the championship, underscoring the importance attached to the event.

In addition to the professional competition, more than 40 amateur golfers are expected to take part in a special event scheduled for the final day of the championship, adding further excitement to the four-day golf festival in Tema.
