Alexis Kabore changes coaches as he settles in UK

Former Ghana based Burkinabe boxer, Alexis Boureima Kabore, also a former Africa Boxing Union (ABU) super bantamweight champion, ^has changed coaches in his quest to chase his boxing dreams after moving permanently to the UK.

Following his first fight in the UK against Archie Sharp at the end of October last year, Kabore who is also a former WBC international super bantamweight champion returned to Ghana to reorganise his coaching set up, dropping his previous handlers but retaining Darku Ricketts as his technical director.

Alexis Kabore defeated Michael Tagoe at the Bukom Boxing Arena on February 19 with Coach Darku Ricketts (far left in cap) in his corner

He fought, as it appears now, perhaps for the last time in Ghana, claiming a round 7 TKO win over Michael Tagoe on fight night 2 of the newly commenced Ghana Professional Boxing League on February 19 this year, before voyaging back to the UK where he intends to relaunch his world title ambitions.

Now fully settled and keen to impress, Kabore (29-6, 8 KOs) suffered a unanimous points decision loss to Thomas Patrick Ward on the Probellum fight show in Newcastle last Friday under a new technical team and despite the defeat, remains resolute he is on the right path to rise to the top.

Kabore – working with a new coaching team

“Things are looking better, too bad I lost this fight but it was a good experience, lots of lessons learnt and I can assure my fans all over the world that I am moving in the right direction,” Alexis Kabore said.

“My new coaches are fantastic and I keep learning new things and improving every day. I am also grateful to my technical director Darku Ricketts for all his technical support and advises. I promise to make them all proud,” Kabore added.
