England’s Chris Murray wins Weightlifting gold with new record

England’s Chris Murray won gold in the men’s 81kg Weightlifting with a new Commonwealth Games record.

The 23-year-old lifted an incredible record total of 325kg, with his 181kg in the clean and jerk enough to see off Australia’s Kyle Bruce – who failed with his third weight of 183kg in the clean and jerk after a judges review.

Bruce’s total of 323kg was enough for silver, with Canada’s Nicolas Vachon taking bronze with a total of 320kg.
