Johana Viveros Mondragon named The World Games Athlete of July 2022

The Speed Skater Johana Viveros Mondragon (COL) stood out clearly as the most successful athlete at The World Games 2022. She travelled back home to Colombia with four gold medals and one silver medal in Speed Skating Track/Road. She is The World Games Athlete of July 2022!

Viveros Mondragon started Speed Skating at the age of 10 in the Alfonso Barberena neighbourhood park in Cali, Colombia. She first took part in The World Games in 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland, where she won gold in the Speed Skating Road Elimination Race 20,000 metres and bronze in the Speed Skating Road Point Race 10,000 metres. By 2022, she had widened her repertoire to include Speed Skating Track races as well, and she managed to grab gold in all three of those: Elimination 10,000 metres, Point Elimination 10,000 metres and Sprint 1,000 metres.

After just two editions of The World Games, Johana Viveros Mondragon is already in 12th place on the list of all-time most successful athletes. As she is only 28 years old, we might see her climbing to the top-10 – even top-2 – on the list after The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China!

As The World Games Athlete of the Month, Johana Viveros Mondragon will receive The World Games Athlete of the Month diploma as well as a branded gift from the Official Sponsor of Athlete of the Month, Protective Life.
