Africa boxing Zone 3 championship set for Tanzania in April

The Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Zone Three Championships will take place in Dar es Salaam from April 11-18.

Announcing this today, the Secretary-General of the zone Lukelo Willilo said the eight-day event will be held at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Willilo, who’s also the president of Boxing Federation of Tanzania and AFBC board member, said the Zone Three tournament was among the important issues discussed in the first executive committee meeting of the newly-elected BFT office on Sunday (March 5).

Among the 14-members of Zone Three expected in Dar are Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, DRC, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville and Somalia.

Plans are also underway for 1-Star course for coaches, referees and judges course to be held on the sidelines of Zone Three tournament. Willilo said they’re waiting for IBA to confirm the dates.

Tanzania’s partipation in the Women’s and Men’s World Championships was also discussed at the meeting. Later, Willilo led the BFT officials who visited the training camp of the two boxers taking part in India Worlds, light-fly Rahma Joseph Maganga and lightweight Beatrice Ambrose Nyambega..
