Romero and Barroso fight over a powder keg

This Saturday’s super lightweight world title bout between Cuban-born American Rolando Romero and Venezuelan Ismael Barroso is an interesting fight and one in which the knockout will be latent at all times.

Las Vegas will have a showdown between one of the most charismatic fighters of the moment and a veteran of impressive power that could end spectacularly depending on how it develops.

On “Rolly’s” side, he is a fighter who is used to adapting to every fight and has youth on his side. Patience and body work will be key for Romero if he wants to become a world champion.

He is coming off a tough knockout loss to Gervonta Davis and was originally scheduled to face Puello, but after the Dominican failed VADA test, he will now go for the vacant title.

Barroso is a powerful southpaw puncher who is a former interim lightweight champion and is used to finishing fights early. He has been chasing a title shot for years and now has it in his hands but will have to defeat a younger and very uncomfortable opponent.

His advantage is his punching power, the fact that Romero is coming from being knocked out by a southpaw like him and he will be looking for a knockout from the start knowing that he has a fitness disadvantage, so prolonging the fight takes away his chances.

Romero comes in with 14 wins, 1 loss and 12 knockouts while Barroso has 24 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 22 knockouts.
