Heart of Lions scores 94th minute equaliser to deny Medeama

Reuben Hennessy scored in added time to give Heart of Lions a 2-2 draw against champions Medeama SC in their outstanding Ghana Premier League game on Wednesday.

Medeama SC were coasting to a 2-1 win until Hennessy smashed home the equalizer in the 94th minute to break their hearts.

The League champions took the lead inside 44 minutes through Bernardinho Tetteh at Hohoe before increasing the tally through a Reuben Hennessy own goal in the 72nd minute.

Ebenezer Abban reduced the deficit for Heart of Lions in the 80th minute after scoring from a spot kick. But Medeama SC continued to dominate play in search of the third goal. Reuben Hennessy soared above all to head home the equalizer after getting on the end of Ishmael Addo’s free kick in the 94th minute to make it 2-2.

The draw leaves Medeama SC in 8th place with 25 points – 7 points behind leaders FC Samartex while Heart of Lions remains bottom of the table with 15 points – 17 points of the top spot.

Elsewhere in Tamale, Dreams FC snatched a point from Karela United in a goalless draw at Aliu Mahama stadium.
