Mission complete — A successful Wimbledon title defence and another major trophy for Carlos Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz beats Novak Djokovic again to win Wimbledon, 4th grand slam at 21

The Spaniard delivered a masterful championship-match display against Novak Djokovic on Sunday at the All England Club to power to his second straight major trophy.

Alcaraz, who won his maiden Roland Garros crown just five weeks ago, took control of the match early on Centre Court and barely looked back in a starkly contrasting final to his 2023 five-set epic against Djokovic.

With his 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) win, Alcaraz joined ATP legends Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Djokovic on the list of men to have won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year.

“It is a huge honour for me to be part of those players who have achieved Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year,” said the 21-year-old.

“They are huge champions. I don’t consider myself as a champion yet, not like them, but I will keep going to build my path, my journey. It is a huge honour for me.”

Alcaraz is now a four-time major champion at an earlier age and having played fewer Grand Slam matches than any of the ‘Big Three’ of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. The Spaniard is not ready to rest on his laurels, though.

“At the end of my career, I want to sit at the same table as the big guys,” he said.

“That’s my main goal. That’s my dream right now. It doesn’t matter if I already won four Grand Slams at the age of 21. If I don’t keep going, all these tournaments for me, it doesn’t matter.”
