Algeria,’s much talked about female boxer, Imane Khelif is through to the finals of women’s boxing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games following a convicting 5-0 unanimous decision over Thailand’s world silver medallist Janjaem Suwannapheng whom she also beat in last year’s World Championships in New Delhi, India.

She will now face China’s reigning world champion and 2019 world silver medallist, Yang Liu who defeated Chen Nien of Taipei in the other last 4 fight

It certainly will be a mouthwatering clash between the two titans of women’s boxing, particularly in the welterweight division – 66 Kg.

A win for Khelif makes her Africa’s third ever gold medal winner in this sport & second overall for her country. That will also push Algeria up the podium as the continent ‘s most successful boxing nation in the history of the Olympic games minus apartheid South Africa’s earlier 6 gold medal success -1920 to 1960.

Khelif already made history as Africa’s first medal winner at the Olympics since women boxing started at the Games in London 2012.
