Burma Camp hosts tennis competition Saturday

Burma Camp Tennis

The Burma Camp tennis court will be the venue for an international club competition on Saturday that will revive an age-long rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria.
The competition, which is to mark Ghana’s 59th Independence anniversary, is expected to see players of the host club and the Ibrahim Babangida Tennis club (IBBTC) of Nigeria battle for the bragging right in a showdown.
It would be the third time the Ghanaians would be hosting their Nigerian counterparts, following their last game in Nigeria last October.
Host countries have always won the competition, but this time, the Nigerians are poised to reverse the trend by winning the competition in Accra.
This seems to have given the tournament a new competitive drive, and given the healthy rivalry that had always existed between the two countries in all competitions, Burma Camp will boil on Saturday when the two sides clash.
This is because the host team is more determined than ever to maintain the status quo by winning the competition.
Players such as Air Vice Marshal Sakib Kadri, Kojo Essel of GCB Bank, Group Captain A. A. Appiah, Kwesi Nkansah Jnr, among others, are expected to put up splendid performance to send the visitors packing.
The tournament is sponsored by GCB Bank, Baj Freight, Guinness Ghana Brewery Ltd and Cadbury Ghana Ltd.
