In a heartwarming display of support for Ghanaian sports, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has gifted Asante Kotoko Sporting Club ten thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000) after their thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2025 President’s Cup. This generous gesture is a testament to the Minister’s commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting sports excellence in Ghana.
During a courtesy visit to the team’s hotel, Hon. Adams handed over the cash reward to the team’s captain, Gilbani Samba, a standout Congolese defender who played a pivotal role in Kotoko’s win. Beyond the financial gift, Hon. Adams promised the team his full support, both as a minister and a die-hard fan, in their forthcoming African campaign.
“Our target is the continental level, and we will do everything to support you,” he assured the team.

Asante Kotoko’s victory was a testament to their resilience and determination. After going down to a first-half goal, the team staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, with Peter Amidu Acquah and Kwame Opoku scoring the decisive goals. The win marked a significant milestone for the team, and the Minister’s gift served as a refreshing way to commemorate their achievement.
The gesture has been warmly received by the players and coaching staff, symbolizing government support for their efforts. With this boost, Asante Kotoko is poised to make a strong impact in their upcoming 2024/25 CAF :Confederations Cup campaign.
