Hearts of Oak appoint Julius Ben Emunah as Managing Director

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has named seasoned football administrator Julius Ben Emunah as its new Managing Director, ushering in a fresh leadership phase as the club positions itself for stronger administrative efficiency and on-field competitiveness.

The appointment, which takes effect from February 2, 2026, was announced in an official statement issued by the club on February 3. Mr Emunah replaces Dr Delali Anku-Adiamah, who has stepped down after overseeing the club during what management described as a critical period in its recent history.

In confirming the decision, the Board of Directors said it was confident the new Managing Director possesses the experience and vision required to guide the Phobians into what it described as “a new era of professionalism, transparency, and competitiveness”.

Mr Emunah brings to the role nearly a decade of experience across football administration, governance, sports broadcasting and management at both national and continental levels. Until his appointment, he served as Head of Competitions at the Ghana Football Association, where he was directly involved in the organisation and regulation of domestic football competitions.

His career has also included stints as Regional Administrator of the Western Regional Football Association, National Safety and Security Officer, and Club Licensing Manager at the GFA, roles that placed him at the heart of regulatory compliance and stakeholder coordination within Ghanaian football.

According to the club, Mr Emunah has demonstrated “outstanding leadership in competition management, club licensing, sports event organization, media relations, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement”, while contributing to major continental and international tournaments such as CAF interclub finals, AFCON qualifiers, the African Nations Championship and the African Games.

Academically, the new Managing Director holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Coast, as well as a Global Master’s degree in Sports Management and Legal Skills from FC Barcelona at the ISDE Law Business School in Spain.

The Board also paid tribute to the outgoing Managing Director, acknowledging Dr Anku-Adiamah’s service and contribution to the club before formally welcoming his successor.
