Chief of Staff Julius Debrah led participants in the 2026 Independence Day Run/Walk held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on March 7 as part of activities marking Ghana Independence Day.
The event, which featured 5KM and 10KM runs, formed part of Ghana’s 69th Independence celebrations and was aimed at promoting national unity, patriotism, and healthy living among citizens.
Addressing participants, Debrah emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, noting that a healthy nation is key to productivity.
“And so I will use this occasion to encourage all of us that every now and then exercise to keep your body healthy,” he said.
The Chief of Staff, together with his wife, actively took part in the run/walk, demonstrating hands-on leadership during the fitness event organized by Millennium Marathon.
The event attracted participants from different sectors of society, reinforcing its core objective of encouraging fitness while strengthening national unity.
Several dignitaries were also present, including Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, Director-General of the National Sports Authority Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and former Attorney General and Minister for Justice Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong.
Beyond the fitness aspect, the Independence Day Run/Walk also served as a patriotic gathering, bringing together Ghanaians from various backgrounds to reflect on the nation’s values and celebrate its progress.
