The streets of Agavedzi came alive in Good Friday, April 3, 2026 as the National Recreation and Wellness Program (NaRWP) partnered with Kedzi Norvikporgbe ZA to host a thrilling walk and aerobic session in the Volta Region to mark Easter.
Over 2,000 participants, young and old, turned out for the epic event, which wound its way through Blekusu and ended at Kedzi.

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries including Hon Betty Krosbi Mensah, National Recreation Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of regular exercise in preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like stroke, obesity, and diabetes.

“We need to create a culture of wellness and make healthy habits a part of our daily lives,” she said.
“Just 30 minutes a day can make a huge difference,” she stressed.
Other notable attendees included Togbi Joachim Acorlatse V, Paramount Chief of Kedzi Traditional Area, Sesenu Augustus Mawulolo, Assemblymember for Kedzi Electoral Area, and other local leaders who joined the walk, showing their commitment to community wellness.

As participants made their way to Kedzi, they were treated to energetic aerobic sessions, led by a certified instructor.
The crowd grooved to upbeat tunes, waving flags and banners, and enjoying the festive atmosphere. The vibrant energy was palpable, with participants of all ages and abilities coming together to promote healthy living.
At Kedzi, the organizers climaxed the event with exciting water volleyball and handball matches, featuring talented boys and girls teams. The crowd cheered as they showcased their skills, celebrating the spirit of competition and teamwork.

Hon Mensah took the opportunity to stress the importance of regular exercise in improving overall well-being.
“Exercising regularly can prolong life and reduce the risk of diseases,” she said.
“It’s not just about adding years to life, but life to years – enjoying quality time with loved ones, being active, and feeling great.”
The event was a huge success, with participants praising the organizers for their efforts in promoting physical activity and community spirit.

“This is exactly what we need – fun, engaging, and accessible ways to stay healthy,” said one participant.
As they dispersed, they vowed to make wellness a priority, inspired by the epic experience.
