Nations FC became the first team to in over three decades to win the Ghana FA Cup despite suffering relegation after etching their name into Ghanaian football folklore with a historic triumph over Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to win the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday.
Joseph Effah gave Nations the lead on 31 minutes with a close range header but Abdul Razak Salifu headed in a powerful equaliser for Dreams on the stroke of halftime.

Both sides created a lot of chances in the second half and extra time, but none could break the stalemate, sending the match into the dreaded penalty shootout after 120 minutes.
Nations held their nerve to edge it 5-4 after both sides took six kicks each, to lift their first major silverware.

The triumph is historic as the Abrankese side become the first club in 34 years to win the FA Cup after suffering relegation from the GPL— after Ho Voradep’s 3-2 conquest of conquest of Neoplan Stars on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
The victory crowns a remarkable cup campaign Nations FC who will represent Ghana in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
