Team Ghana land in Benin for Badminton Africa tournament

Team Ghana have arrived in Benin for the Africa Badminton championship which begins immediately and ends on 1 September in U-15, U-19, and U-35 age categories for the Africa Mixed Team and Individual championship qualifiers.

Ghana’s 29-member contingent comprising 23 athletes and six officials left the country on Tuesday 17 August and will know their opponents when the draw is conducted today on arrival in the West Africa neighbouring country.

Ghana is ranked third best Mixed Team in Africa and first in the Juniors category.

Accordingly, theĀ  2-week event provides an excellent opportunity and development experience for the national athletes, technical officials, and coaches from a competitive and multi-sport games perspective.

It also serves as a platform for athlete qualification for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and would prepare the technical officials to officiate at the 2023 African Games.

Representing Ghana in U-15 are Shang Francis Obeng, Ankrah Jonathan, Quarcoo Daniel, Adu Enoch, Obabompa Adu-Mintah, Abakah Nathaniel, Quarcoo Racheal, Moslena Ama Korama Adu and Aboagye Priscila.

Botwe Michael, Amoako Emmanuel Kwame, Addo Leslie Nii, Mensah Franz Evans, Osei Elvis, Nantuo Prospera, Tornyenyor Cindy Etornam, and Nyame Gloria will represent Ghana in the U-19 division.

Meanwhile the Benin International category will see Ebenezer Korampong, Alphous Kelvin Evans, Abdul-Samad Ahmad, Tamakloe Aaron, Lamptey Samuel, and Quarcoo Ruddock.

Head coach Moses Adu is leading the team along with Team Manager Atta Boateng Dakoh and Ocansey Ahumah who is assistant coach.
