Wa African United have vowed to place an injunction on the Ghana Premier League which kick starts next month, the club’s chief Nana Dwamena has warned.
The Ghana FA has confirmed February 20 for the league to start.
The Ghanaian top-flight had been delayed for close to four months due to several legal wrangling.
Wa African United and Techiman City were demoted to the country’s lower tier after they were found culpable for match-fixing.
The matter is yet to be resolved but the Ghana FA has given United the green light to participate in the top-tier, which has angered officials of the Wa-based side.
The club’s Chief Executive Nana Dwamena has vowed to put breaks on a league which has unduly been delayed for several months amid a crippling financial crisis on teams.
mcc“My interest is not who plays in the league and who will not, I only want sanity to prevail in our league not that I do not want Techiman City to play in the league,” Dwamena told Asempa FM.
“Very soon I will be heading to court for an injunction to be put on the league until the right thing is done,” he revealed.
Mr. Dwamena believes that from now till the day the first match will be kicked, there is enough time to handle matters at hand and put everything to bed.
“I think from now till 20th February we have lots of time and so we will certainly go to court. I have lost interest in football administration because of the poor organisation of the competition in the country.”
tsThe Ghana FA is under intense pressure from clubs and fans over the delay start of the league.
Clubs have been saddled with huge financial burden as they continue to wait in limbo over the start the league.
The latest threat if carried through will further worsen the already volatile situation confronting clubs in the West African nation.
