Avram Grant to arrive in Ghana next week
Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, Avram Grant, is set to arrive in Ghana next week to begin preparations for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers against Mozambique.
The Israeli coach has been in the United Kingdom since December 2015 after he was allowed only a month’s leave by his employers, the Ghana Football Association.
Grant’s inclination to stay abroad has been a topic for discussion on various media platforms with his recent appearances on Sky Sports to analyse games drawing complaints from the Ghanaian masses.
A letter signed by the deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Isaac Addo, shows the Ghana Football Association has become frustrated by the former Chelsea boss’s desire to stay in Europe and manage the Black Stars.
Portions of the letter are as follows: “The position of the Emergency Committee is that you have not been given any permission or approval to perform any monitoring work in Europe for the months of January, February and March, 2016…”
Checks done by Citi Sports indicate that Grant will arrive in the country next week to begin preparations for the game against Mozambique which is scheduled for the 22nd of March before a second leg in Maputo three days later.
