The National Sports Wing of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disable brings back the ” National Disability Sports Festival.”
This sports festival has been in Ghana for so many years but due to financial constraint the Ghana Society for Physically Disable couldn’t have it annually but the new National Executives who took office just last year has put up this great event to help other person’s with disability discover their hidden talents in sports.
Speaking to Alliance Plus Media the P.R.O. for the National Sports Wing of G.S.P.D , Mr Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has stated why it’s necessary to bring back this Sports Festival again which will be held at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium from the 27th August to 30th August 2021. He said he most grateful to the National Sports Authority for the opportunity they gave to them and also partnering the Ghana Society for Physically Disable to host the Sports Festival at a discounted rate.
Some of the disciplines they will be competing in are; wheelchair basketball, athletics and wheelchair tennis. This has produced excellent athletes for Ghana through these Para Sports. Botsyo Nkegbe also made it known that it’s going to be an annual event because the Commonwealth Games is just around the corner, African Games to be staged in Ghana and also Paris 2024 Olympic Games as well so this is the time for the Physically Disable to show what they have in them.
The Guest of Honor for the event will be the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Mohammed Usif but the National Sports Wing of Ghana Society for Physically Disable will like to thank the Director General of the National Sports Authority Professor Patrick Twumasi, Kwame Ampofi Jnr Deputy Director Technical and Mr Tieku of the Cape Coast Sports Stadium for their immense support for the Sports Festival.
Ghana Society for Physically Disable are calling on the corporate bodies to help them organise this National Disability Sports Festival to put smiles on the faces of these talents who will assembly at Cape Coast from ten regions in Ghana.
