Ghana’s most decorated football club Asante Kotoko SC are set to release seven of their underperforming stars as part of their rebuilding process ending the 2020/21 domestic trophyless.
The Porcupine Warriors finished second on the league log and were evicted from the MTN FA Cup at the quarter finals stages of the coveted domestic cup.
As part of their ‘annual’ rebuilding process, the Baba Yara based outfit penciled some underperforming stars for either loan deals or outright sales to make way for new faces.
The much anticipated shake up is led by goal keeper Felix Annan and Augustine Okrah with some surprise names spotted in the list.
Felix Annan managed 3 of the club’s 34 league matches played this season thanks to the arrival of Razak Abalora.
The massive shake up also affected the likes of Abdul Wahab Adams, who was reportedly on his way out of the club after dropping down the pecking order.
Wide man, Augustine Okrah, is also closer to the exit door of the club after failing to nail down a commanding place in the team.
His pace and technique on the ball showed up in flashes across the season but was not enough to convince the technical team of his class.
Former Nkoranza Warriors FC midfield dynamo, Emmanuel Sarkodie, has also been penciled for a loan deal away from the club to allow him fine tune his game.
Sarkodie eased his way into the starting XI of the club but injuries and fitness issues did not allow the ball user to unleash his predatory best in the red jersey.
Top scorer for Asante Kotoko SC in the FA Cup, Evans Adomako, will reportedly join Naby Laye Keita in the attacking exits whiles Godfred Asiamah look set to spend the 2021/22 GHPL away from the Baba Yara stadium.
