Pacquiao has two fights to contend with: Politics interfering boxing

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiaois back in the headlines again ahead of his much-anticipated return to the ring. The Filipino fighter will face Yordenus Ugas for the WBA super welterweight title in Las Vegas early on Sunday morning, but has another fight on his hands outside of the ring.

His position as senator in the Philippines is in danger as the justice secretary Alfonso Cusiand the president of the government Rodrigo Duterte want him removed from the country’s PDP-Laban party.

This follows him being voted out of his role as party leader in July with Cusinow having taken the position himself.

Pacquiao is accused of elevating his PSM party to a national level, changing statutes for the 2022 presidential elections which would cause incompatibility between the two parties.

As this political drama rages on, the Pacman is currently in the United States preparing for his big fight this Sunday.
