Former Youth and Sports minister of Ghana, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, has stated that the football association should select good coach for the senior national team.
Reports in the local media has suggested that former coach Milovan Rajevac is on his way for a second coming after C.K Akonnor was sacked a fortnight ago.
Although, Milovan was able to guide the Black Stars to the quarterfinals of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, his impending return has brought about divergent opinions.
“During the world cup in Brazil, something happened at the training ground where a player uttered some disrespectful words to the coach. I think that was an opportunity for the coach to discipline him and if he had done that, things wouldn’t have denigrated to what we later saw all over,” Afriyie-Ankrah told Light FM.
“Although, it is a teamwork, I think the Football Association should allow the new coach to have free hands to operate and have his own choices so that he can succeed,” he added.
Afriyie-Ankrah also shed light on how Ghana can turnaround events to qualify for the 2022 Fifa World Cup despite a slow start to the qualifiers.
