The long awaited Congress of the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) is to be held on Saturday, October 30.
The heavily anticipated event is to be held at the Media Center at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana’s capital, Accra with a handful of agendas to be hammered out.
The most eye catching item on the itinerary for the Congress is the election of officials to make up the new Association. Reports reaching Ghana’s biggest basketball portal indicate GBBA President David Addo Ashong won’t run for another term.
Voting of interested persons to fill various positions in the Association is to be done by two delegates per constituent; there are 18 constituents.
The new members of the GBBA face a growing concern of inertia in the sport in the West African nation that has a strong level of interest but little finances to back the push to turn interest into a thriving space in the Ghanaian sports fraternity.
