Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan are still very committed to the Black Stars, according to their spokesperson Fiifi Tackie.
Tackie has dismissed local media reports claiming the famous brothers have quit Black Stars following the team’s abysmal showing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Tackie wrote on Twitter, “Andrè and Jordan Ayew are still very committed to the Black Stars team as they have always been. They will keep donning the Black Stars jersey to represent Ghana and give the team their very best on and off the pitch, as always.”
“We just got off the phone,” he added.
Andre, who is the captain, has played 102 matches and scored 23 goals while Jordan has 18 goals in 73 appearances.
It’s been over a week since Ghana were knocked out of Afcon after finishing the group stage with one point. It was the worst ever performance by the Black Stars and tough decisions have been made. Head coach Milovan Rajvac and his backroom staff have been fired.
Black Stars management committee, led by George Amoako, former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive, will be reconstituted.
