Senegalese talisman, Sadio Mané was named the just concluded 2021 African Cup of Nations’ most valuable player after his heroics sealed the first AFCON title for the Lions of Teranga against the Paharaohs of Egypt in Cameroon on Sunday night, and the reigning African footballer of the year woke up in style Monday morning.
The Liverpool forward was outstanding for Aliou Cissé’s side, notching three goals and providing two assists during the course of the tournament.
Mané again struck the winning spot-kick to seal his country’s 4-2 shootout victory over Mohamed Salah’s Egypt after Sunday’s final had finished goalless after 120 minutes.
He saw a penalty saved early on during the final, but later held his nerve to smash in the decisive spot-kick and was duly recognised as the tournament’s best player.
And no one can begrudge him for ‘sleeping’ with the coveted trophy, as captured in this cute photo he shared on social media earlier this morning.
