Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will square off again in Accra for the 2022 President’s Cup set to go down on Friday March 4.
The two most glamourous clubs in the country will face off again at the Accra Sports Stadium next month after their clash in the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League ended in a pulsating scoreless draw over the weekend.
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo will grace the occasion and will kick start the game with the ceremonial kick-off and also honour the teams after the game with medals.
The President Cup is an annual ceremonial match organized by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to be played to honour the first gentleman of the West African nation.
Asante Kotoko won the last edition played in 2019 after defeating their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors have won the title on six occasions, two titles more than Hearts of Oak.
The 2020 and 2021 editions of the President Cup was cancelled due to lack of funds and the outbreak of the Covid-19.
