Newly established kit and fitness equipment manufacturing shop, Symmetry Gears on Tuesday morning formalised a one-year sponsorship deal with two boxers in the ACE Power Promotions stable, Holy ‘Jaw Breaker’ Dorgbetor and Samuel Martei Laryea.
Undefeated Dorgbetor (8-0, 5 KOs) currently is the reigning Ghana featherweight champion and also holds the UBO intercontinental featherweight title and has been with the ACE Power Promotions stable right at the beginning of his still burgeoning professional career.
Laryea (2-0, 1 KO) only signed up to ACE Power Promotions in February this year and is keen to impress in chase of his childhood dreams of becoming a world champion.
The East Legon, Accra based outfit will provide the two budding pugilists training equipment and fitness medication for the next year, with a renewable option as they seek to not only introduce their products to Ghanaians but as also their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
“The word symmetry means create balance, so we are trying to create balance in our society by giving hope to these boxers. Symmetry Gears is here to stay, make use of our leverage and sponsor as much athletes as we can and provide fitness gear for everybody,” explained Emmnauel Jojo Forson, CEO of the 2017 founded Symmetry Gears.
“We are trying to do this with ACE Power Promotions not just for profit but as our corporate social responsibility. So as we are starting with these athletes we know that this is not just a step we are just showcasing but it will be fruitful for both parties and hopefully we can extend to other boxers and athletes in general,” soft spoken Mr. Forson added.
Already after official sealing of the contract, the two young fighters each received sparring gloves, punching gloves, training wear, training bags, head gears, water bottle, punching bags, boxing shoes, mouth guards, protector, skipping ropes, speed ladder, gand wraps, hand weights, boxing marts, resistance bands, cardio boxing mitts, boxing skipping ropes and handheld curve boxing punch
The development is one that has delighted ACE Power Promotions, for which they expressed so much appreciation to Symmetry Gears for the kind gesture.
“This is a landmark signing for us because we have been in Ghana boxing for quite some time, doing events, signing boxers and the cost alone in trying to get them equipment is a lot,” said Isaac Amankwah, General Manager of ACE Power Promotions.
“It’s difficult to always pull into your pocket, anybody in boxing will tell you it’s very difficult because we don’t have TV rights, if you do events you hardly make any money, your boxers too it will take time to develop them to a point where you can necessarily make any back so its always difficult because its invest, invest, invest,” he further explained.
“So to get somebody to take off some of these burden, its a huge relief and we are very excited that Symmetry Gears have agreed to work with us and I hope the marriage is a permanent one, that we can hold it up so in future other boxers too can come and enjoy what you are giving to these two boxers,” a visibly satisfied Mr. Amankwah stated.
