Stade Rennais manager Bruno Genesio has sent a heartwarming message to his players including Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana after winning the Ligue 1 coach of the year award.
Bruno Genesio scooped the award after leading the Red and Blacks to a top four place with a game remaining in the French league.
“I want to share this trophy with several people. First François and François-Henri Pinault, owners of Stade Rennais FC for almost 25 years, who have worked hard for the development of this club. They are great football enthusiasts, from Rennes. I thank them for their trust. I also have a huge thought for Nicolas Holveck who is playing a game much more important than those we can win or lose each weekend. I know you will win it Nicolas,” he started.
“I would also like to associate Florian Maurice who is my Sports Director but also my friend. I’m really lucky to be able to work with him. We know the difficulty sometimes in the relationship between a Sporting Director and a trainer. I am lucky to work with a competent person, a friend in whom I fully trust. Thanks for picking me up a year ago for this project.
“I obviously thank my group of players which is made up of talented elements with a lot of individual and collective quality. A group with human values that are essential to achieve results at a very high level. I am very proud to lead this group of players.
“Finally, I thank all the staff, technical, medical, stewards, team managers, the press officer and the administrative staff who work every day to help me prepare the team well, do my job well and support sometimes my moods and my tantrums.”
