Ghana defeated Morocco 2-0 in the first leg of their U-17 Women’s World Cup final qualifying round tie on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Maidens dominated play and capitalized on their opportunities to earn an important victory to take to Morocco for the second leg.
Stella Nyamekye’s strike in the 18th minute gave them the lead at halftime.
After the break, Ghana maintained control of the game, scoring a second goal through Nancy Amoah.
Ghana must now prepare for the second leg scheduled for June 4.
The Maidens are aiming for a record seventh FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup appearance.
Before the match on Friday, Black Maidens head coach Baba Nuhu stated that Morocco will not be taken lightly.
And they did so by avoiding complacency and achieving a significant victory.
