Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has returned to the squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after serving a suspension that kept him out of the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The Al-Sadd SC star winger was given a two-match suspension after receiving a red card in Ghana’s final group stage match in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in January.
As a result, Ayew was unavailable for selection when Ghana beat Nigeria in the playoffs to secure qualification to the World Cup in Qatar.
With his suspension lifted, Ayew has been recalled to the squad for the early June games against Madagascar and the Central African Republic.
Ayew has been in the country for the past week and has been seen training with top-flight clubs such as Medeama.
The squad should be released by the end of the week, with players arriving over the weekend to begin their match preparations.
The Black Stars are expected to win both games and finish first in the qualifying group, which also includes Angola.
