In what was their very first competitive outing, Cheetah Beach Soccer Club upset the big boys to win the maiden Ghana Beach Soccer FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Accra based Sea Sharks BSC
With the historic live coverage of matches on Max TV, the pre match hype had many believing that the final would be a goal feast between two high scoring teams.
However, the end to end action was a more tactical yet thrilling encounter with numerous chances going to waste.
The President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku, kicked off the tournament three weeks earlier with sixteen clubs from across the coastal belt competing for honours.
After over thirty exciting games, the Central regional representatives Cheetah BSC picked up the ultimate prize seeing off fierce competition from Sea Sharks.
Ghana Beach Soccer national team players Alexander Adjei Richard and Richard Osa led their teams respectively both were on the score sheets.
Adjei smashed in what was probably the goal of the tournament late in the first quarter of the game.
However the Senya Bereku based club bounced back to equalize in the second quarter before captain Osa tapped in the winner late in the third and final quarter of the game.
Despite a late barrage of shots, the strike was enough to ensure that Cheetah clinched their first ever Beach Soccer title thanks to a massive with 15 goals contribution from Osa.
The match for bronze was equally exciting as another newcomer to the game, Ocean Stars from the Volta region beat pre tournament favourites Keta Sunset.
The result left Ghana’s most successful Beach Soccer club from Keta with no medal to show for their efforts.
The 2022 FA Cup was the first official Beach Soccer tournament post Covid-19 and also the first organized by the since the game was Ghana FA since the affiliation of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association.
The tournament was supported by Tecno Mobile who gave an assortment of prizes including brand new Tecno Spark 9 phones.
