The first round of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League fixtures were released on Thursday, with the first Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak scheduled for matchday 3.
Asante Kotoko, the reigning champions, will face former champions Hearts of Oak in the season’s first big match at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium.
Last season, the first meeting ended in a goalless stalemate in Accra but Kotoko won the second match in Kumasi. The 1-0 victory contributed to Kotoko’s title victory.
Hearts of Oak will be eyeing revenge as they look to reclaim the title.
In other key ties, Hearts of Oak will play Great Olympics in the Ga Mashie derby on matchday 2, while Kotoko will face King Faisal in the Kumasi derby on matchday 4.
The Aliu Mahama Stadium will host the league’s first Tamale derby between Real Tamale United and newly promoted Tamale City, also on matchday 4.
‘Due to Television broadcast schedules, Match dates for the respective fixtures would be made public in due course,” GFA announced.
The league, which is now sponsored by betPawa, will begin on September 9, 2022.
