Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have rejected reports that they have signed former Black Stars superstar Sulley Muntari, a top official of the Kumasi-based side has told Ghanasoccernet.com
The experienced midfielder Muntari was reported by a journalist on Tuesday night to have agreed a contract with the Ghanaian champions ahead of their participation in the CAF Champions League.
Sheikh Tophic Sienu reported on his social media profile on Tuesday night that the former Inter Milan star has signed a two-year deal with the club after leaving arch-rivals Hearts of Oak.
The ex-Ghana international was reported to have signed for another Ghana Premier League club after leaving giants Hearts of Oak at the end of the 2021/22 season.
However, the African giants have rubbished the report insisting they have not signed the former AC Milan midfielder, rejected the claim that they have signed the former Ghana international.
“The story making rounds is false. We have not signed Sulley. I don’t honestly know where Sheikh got that info from,” a top official of Asante Kotoko, on the condition of anonymity, told Ghanasoccernet.com.
Muntari’s experience will be key for the Premier League kingpins in the CAF Champions League.
The 37-year-old proved his mettle in the games he featured for the Phobians and helped them to win the MTN FA Cup.
