Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey handed maiden Ghana call-up for Brazil friendly

Tariq Lamptey has been handed his maiden Black Stars call-up by Ghana coach Otto Addo.

The Brighton and former England youth international has been invited for the friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua later this month.

The 21-year-old right-back switched nationalities to represent Ghana in June and could make the Black Stars’ team for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Lamptey has been in fine form in the new season, as Brighton sit fourth on the English Premier League table after six games.

The Black Stars will face five-time World champions Brazil on September 23, 2022 at the Stade Oceane in Le Havre, France in the first test game.

Ghana face Nicaragua four days later in the second friendly in Lorca in Spain on September 27, 2022.

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has named by Addo for the first time for the two matches and could be making his debut in the White shirt.

Former Spain youth player Inaki Williams who has recently switched his international allegiance to represent the West African country has also been listed.

Germany-born duo Stephan Kofi Ambrosius and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer are also listed in the Black Stars squad to face Brazil and Nicaragua.

Arsenal star Thomas Partey is making a return to the team having missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Central African Republic in June through injury.

Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh who has been in blistering form for the Black Galaxies in CHAN qualifications is the only home based player named.
