Nigerian side Edo Queens defeated Benin’s Ainonvi FC 3-0 in the final of the 2024 West African Football Union (WAFU) B TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League,  on Friday August 23, with Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku in attendance to present the trophy to the winning team.

The GFA boss, who is the President of  WAFU Zone B, witnessed an exciting final at the Stade de La Paix de Bouaké.

The Nigerian side secured the sub-regional title thanks to three first-half goals and earned the right to represent WAFU B in the continental Championship.

Two goals from Suliat Abideen, Emem Essien and an  own goal by Elizabeth Ukandu sealed the emphatic victory and secured  their place at the main tournament.

Edo Queens have replaced Ghana’s Amepm Darkoa Ladies as WAFU B representatives ahead of the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League, scheduled to take place later in the year.
