The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that each Black Stars player will pocket a $10,000 (Ten thousand US Dollars) for each of the qualification matches they participated in successfully qualifying Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In an exclusive interview on Asempa FM, the Yagaba-Kuboro Member of Parliament (MP) said the winning bonus structure of the Black Stars for World Cup qualifiers has been maintained from the past, and his government and the GFA were not changing it.

He said the Ministry of Youth and Sports has paid half of the bonuses to the players, and hoping to pay the remainder after the team’s qualification.

With a total of 8 matches, the players that took part in all of the matches are expected to pocket $80,000 as bonuses as they await the special package from the President of Ghana.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif stressed that even though they pegged the bonuses to the qualification of the team to the World Cup, they will however pay them based on the number of matches each player participated in.

The Ministry is expected to release funds to pay the rest of the bonuses before the team begins its AFCON 2023 qualifiers in June.
