Scores of Glo subscribers across Ghana can recharge their lines and enjoy an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 edition of the Glo-CAF awards ceremony at Eko Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos, Nigeria on January 8, 2015.Others will have the opportunity of predicting the winners of the awards and be rewarded with a trip to Old Trafford. Glo Mobile will send them on a wow trip to watch Manchester United play at Old Trafford. Another 300 subscribers will get consolation prizes of GHc 100 each.
To qualify to be part of these 75 lucky guests, all that a subscriber needs to do is to recharge his/her Glo line with a minimum of GHc 10 till 31st Dec 2014. The opportunities are available to both prepaid and postpaid customers and also to existing and new subscribers on the network.
To qualify to be selected for the trip to Old Trafford, subscribers only need to send the keyword for the category and name of the winner via sms to a short code, “5014” at GHc 1 per sms till 7th January 2015. The keyword for the African Footballer of the Year is AFY. For the Female African Footballer of the Year, it is AFF, while the code for the African Coach of the Year is ACY.
The top 5 nominees for the African Footballer of the Year are: Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa (Nigeria), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon) and Yaya Toure (Cote d’Ivoire). For the Female African Footballer of the Year, the top 5 include: Annette Ngo Ndom (Cameroun), Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie (Nigeria), Portia Modise (South Africa) and Zenatha Coleman (Namibia). The African Coach of the Year category has as nominees Florent Mbenge DR (Congo), Kherireddine Madoui (Algeria), Rigo Gervais (Cote d’Ivoire), Stephen Keshi (Nigeria) and Vahid Halilhdzich (Algeria).
Three winners will make the trip while 300 others will get consolation prize of GHc 100 each.
Speaking at the event, Glo Mobile Head of Business, Mr Akeem Kazeem said: “The prestigious Glo-CAF Awards is the biggest and most respected football award on the African continent and Glo is proud to associate with it because football unites our people across many territorial or linguistic barriers.

He added that the trip would give the subscribers an indescribable opportunity to see the football stars making waves across the continent and also the football and entertainment stars making waves across the world.
Before now, subscribers who could predict winners in the Glo-CAF promo were rewarded with trip to the event. However, subscribers will be selected among those who recharge their Glo lines while those who predict the winners through sms will have the ultimate trip to watch a live match of Manchester United at Old Trafford in February 2015 while 300 others get consolation prizes of GHc100 airtime each.
