The Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) has began a talent hunt exercise at the Accra Sports Stadium as part of efforts to whip the interest of young people in the sport.
The programme dubbed Junior and Youth Development programme forms part of the GWF’s agenda to select young boys and girls and train them for the future.
According the GWF children above 13 years are taken through training programme at the National Weightlifting Center at the Accra Sports Stadium every Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
The exercise will see quarterly competitions for the children with attractive prices for them.

w2Ben Nunoo-Mensah, President of GWF said his outfit intends identifying and grooming talents at the tender age so they will have a better understanding of the sport.
According to Nunoo-Mensah, the exercise will also afford his federation the opportunity to develop national and international champions.
