President fingers former GAA Chairman for Martha Bissah’s woes

President of the Ghana Armwrestling federation who doubles as a board member of the Ghana Athletics Association(GAA) and secretary general of the sports writers association (SWAG) Charles Osei Assibey has fingered former GAA Chairman and guardian of Ghana’s only olympic gold medalist at the youth olympic , Mr George Haldane Luthdrot for what he calls not playing a fatherly role in resolving the impasse between Martha Bissah and the GAA.

Speaking in a radio interview with Zylofon fm, Mr.Charles Osei Assibey said ‘quote me anywhere the former GAA Chairman should be blamed for what Martha is going through because I expect him to call Prof Francis Doodu who might be his younger brother together with the girl and resolve the issue amicably’.

The former GAA Chairman has been quoted saying it would be out of place for the youth gold medalist to apologise to the GAA for telling the truth, a statement Mr. Charles Osei Assibey believes could send Mr.Luttrodt to court because he is confirming what Martha accused Prof Doodo of therefore he should produce evidence to that effect.

Martha Bissah accused the GAA executives of extortion while working on a scholarship for her to study in the USA just after the youth olympics in 2014.

Meanwhile a group called concerned GAA members in a press conference has called on the GAA to stay off Martha Bissah and lift the ban placed on her.

According to them, there is no rule in the constitution that warrants a ban of that magnitude to the former gold medalist for 6 years.

Princeworth Anane-Asare, a representative of the Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA), spoke on behalf of the concerned members in a press conference on Wednesday July 21.
