Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu has revealed how he managed to convince mercurial midfielder Salifu Ibrahim to the Ghana Premier League champions.
The 21-year-old left Techiman Eleven Wonders to join Hearts of Oak during the second registration window and became an instant hit at the club and won series of MVP Awards and provides assists and pre-assists in games.
Boadu, who has won a double for Hearts on his debut season, reveals there were unseen hands that tried to hijack the move but his call to the player convinced him to join Hearts.
“Initially I wanted to bring Salifu to Medeama so when I was moving to Hearts and I heard Hearts also wanted him I became very happy about it,” he told Pure FM in Kumasi.
“But there were some few moves trying to hijack the deal. So I called him and informed him of my move to Hearts and everything became sorted,” Coach Boadu added.
Salifu presented his Player of the Year Award to Hearts of Oak board chairman Togbe Afede XIV on Monday evening during a dinner.
