Kotoko score late to sink Bechem 2-0 to go top of Ghana Premier League

Two late goals from Abdul Ganiyu and Samuel Boateng secured the Porcupine Warriors their second win of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season after defeating Bechem United.

Asante Kotoko managed to record another dramatic late victory by whipping Bechem United 2-0 in their match-week two game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The game looked balanced in the first half as both clubs had few goal glaring opportunities but they failed to make it count.

Lanky striker Emmanuel Avornyo had a golden opportunity on the 6th minute to open the score for Bechem United but he fumbled upfront as goalkeeper Razak Abalora denied him from scoring.

Asante Kotoko duo Joseph Amoako and Richmond Lamptey tried their lucks with powerful drives but their efforts went wide.

Bechem United goalkeeper Iddrisu Abdulai made a magnificent save to fist out a strike from Stephen Amankona, who was in search for his debut goal.

After the half-hour mark, Youngster Clinton Duodu became a tormentor for the Asante Kotoko back line to handle as he dazzles effortlessly but his final deliveries went into the palm of Abalora.

Asante Kotoko were forced to make an early substitution after Patrick Asmah picked up a knock which got him replaced by Imoro Ibrahim on the 36th minute.

A build up of Joseph Amoako and Imoro Ibrahim nearly gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead on the 40th minute but their attempt went wide.
