Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will have Fred available for Tuesday night’s home game with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The boss has previewed the 20:15 GMT kick-off, which is not being shown live on TV in the UK, as the Reds aim to return to winning ways against draw specialists Brighton, who have lost only four Premier League games all season.
Following the 1-1 scoreline against Southampton, the pressure is on the Reds to obtain maximum points in order to boost hopes of being able to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League come the end of the season.
WHO PLAYS ON TUESDAY NIGHT?
The good news is Fred is back in training and could be available again. The busy midfielder tested positive for COVID-19 after being away with Brazil and needed to isolate.
However, striker Edinson Cavani will not be in the matchday squad after suffering a groin problem in training that required treatment and forced him to miss the draw with the Saints.
Nemanja Matic is another absentee, due to a shin injury.
“Fred will be available again,” confirmed the boss, at his pre-match press conference. “He’ll also be part of the group for tomorrow. Edinson is still out, the same with Nema. The rest is, well, Alex [Telles] is back again in the squad and already was part of the group for the Southampton game and he will also be available.”
BRIGHTON’S TEAM NEWS
Seagulls boss Graham Potter seems to have few selection worries for the trip north.
Jeremy Sarmiento and Enock Mwepu may still be out while highly rated midfielder Yves Bissouma is pushing for a recall to the XI after his Africa Cup of Nations exertions.
Former Red Danny Welbeck started the win at Watford before being withdrawn in the 64th minute.
