Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is full of praise of midfielder Thomas Partey after influencing the Gunners victory over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Arsenal reclaimed their fourth spot in the Premiership following a resounding 2-0 win against the Foxes at the Emirates Stadium.
The Ghana international midfielder headed home an 11th minute lead for the Gunners and was also involved in the build up to the second goal.
French forward Alexandre Lacazette converted a penalty kick in the second half to seal the important win for Arsenal.
Before then, Partey had struck the framework with an excellent effort.
Arteta said Partey has ‘come a long way’ since he signed for the club after the Ghanaian produced a starring performance in Arsenal’s win over Leicester.
“He almost scored shooting, he had a great shot onto the crossbar, he was involved in both goals – the header he scored and the penalty as well – and the reaction when he had the shot,” Arteta said.
“You could see he was voted player of the month last month and he’s come a long way, he has the consistency and the minutes, he understands what we want much better.
The 28-year-old was voted Arsenal’s player of the month of February – first time Partey has won the monthly gong.
“I think his cohesion and understanding with the rest of the players is getting better and better and now it is about consistency and to keep doing it.”
