VfL Bochum winger Christopher Antwi Adjei has received has been handed a return to the Black Stars after three years’ after he was included in the 23 man squad by Otto Addo for the World Cup qualifying games against Nigeria.
The player has not earned up a call up since his first in 2019 which was handed to him by Kwesi Appiah in the games against South Africa and Sao Tome de Principe.
Christopher Antwi-Adjei made his international debut for Ghana as a result of the aforementioned call up, playing a role in the 1-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The winger has been impressive in the Bundesliga this season for his club, racking up 4 assists and a goal in many appearances in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.
In the Bundesliga, the 28-year-old has made 24 appearances this season and has scored one goal and recorded two assists, while he has recorded an additional two assists in 3 appearances in the German Cup.
His sole goal came in a shocking 4-2 victory over German champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season.
Antwi has been used as a right winger or left winger, or right midfielder in his games for the German club.
He joins other players such as Kwasi Okyere Wriedt to earn a recall to the Black Stars.
The Black Stars will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg of the playoffs at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday, March 25, while the second leg is scheduled for the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
The winner over the two legs will progress to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.
