Ghana’s ambassador to Brazil, Prof. Abena Busia and the Honourary Consular, Awudu Gariba called on the Ghana Deaf Sports team in Fazenda Souza in Caxias Do Sul, Brazil to officially welcome the team as well as offer some few words of encouragement.
Prof. Abena Busia was so elated to know that Ghana has a deaf sports team representing the nation at the 1st Latin America Summer Deaflympics to be staged in Brazil. She also made mentione of how important the deaf sports has sold Ghana to the world at the games.
Team Ghana performed wonderfully here although they couldn’t show any medal at their first Deaflympics appearance in seventeen (17) years, but the Ambassador said they should have it in their minds that they are heroes in their own way, urging Team Ghana to always approach every competition with a ‘can do’ spirit.
The athletes were so happy to meet the ambassador, who was herself so happy to join the group for the closing ceremony of the 24th Summer Deaflympics in Sesi, Caxias Do Sul Brazil.
Team Ghana will depart this morning from Caxias Do Sul, Brazil back home to the West African country.
