Ghana Premier League champions Asante Kotoko will have to start their pre-season in Accra following a decision by the club’s management team to temporarily postponed their trip to Turkey.
The Porcupine Warriors were scheduled to leave Ghana to Istanbul on Sunday, August 14 but there have been some changes in their plans.
This became necessary due to the fact that most of the players and technical team members have not been able to secure their visas for the trip.
Also, the club is without a head coach following the resignation of Prosper Ogum Narteh last month and reports suggest Burkinabe coach Malo is leading the race to fill the void.
“Our planned trip to Turkey for the second phase of our pre-season which was originally scheduled for the 14th of August, 2022 has been postponed due to visa processing delays,” a club statement read.
“A new date will be communicated,” the statement added.
As a result, Kotoko have been billed to face lower division side Panthers FC at the Legon Park on Monday morning.
Kotoko, who will begin their title defence on September 9 against debutants Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, have already unveiled Koualao Dane Djomian Thomas Pele in a three-year deal as a free agent, goalkeeper Pouaty Moise D’assise from Cameroon and Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala.
The club are also expected to announce the signing of Enoch Morrison from city rivals King Faisal this week after the player has been training with the first team.
