Andorran Boxing Federation welcomes the WBA Future

Andorra is a country with 80 thousand inhabitants and a young Boxing Federation that is 5 years old, organization chaired by Bruno Modesto, who since he arrived at the institution is fervently seeking to develop boxing in the nation and the sport systematically. That is why he welcomes the the WBA Future of Andorra boxing next November 4 hand in hand with the promoter Team Solé and the World Boxing Association.

“It is incredible to have the support of the WBA, the oldest body to regulate boxing. This will give an important renown to our first professional event”, said Modesto, who added that his intention is to give regularity to this type of event: “we have always done amateur events, we usually do about 3 a year, but we wanted to enter the professional arena to further develop the sport. That’s why we hope that with the support of Team Solé we can give continuity and generate a more complete calendar”.

The first WBA Future to be held at the Polidesportiu d’Andorra will feature 4 professional and 12 amateur bouts, all focused on young boxers who dream of going far in the ring. One of them is Andorran Fabio Rodrigues, who will make his debut at super featherweight to the delight of his country.

“We are very eager to see our first professional boxer, to see him win, and from here we hope for a career with good projection,” said Modesto, who also hopes that Rodrigues can participate in the qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Although this is the first professional card, the Andorran Boxing Federation usually participates in amateur tournaments organized by France and Spain, they also make exchanges with England doing training bases with the intention of raising the level. Thanks to this, the federation already has 7 boxing clubs and 150 federated boxers. An important number if we take into account the youth of this organization and the fact that Andorra is a country with 80,000 inhabitants.

In this way, they managed to generate the necessary support so that next November 4 the WBA Future can be held, which will be broadcasted through Sportium’s Twitter channel (@sportiumtv) and the YouTube channel of the World Boxing Association.
